Harri & Evie: Brighton Proposal

I adore photographing proposals, they’re so much fun and when Evie got in touch with me to organise her proposal to Harri I was so excited to be involved.

Evie booked me months in advance whilst she started planning her ideas on how to propose to her Girlfriend, Harri. The plans were based around their trip to Brighton for Pride and so we started discussing the options and how to do it best.

LGBTQ+ Wedding proposal in Brighton

I always find there’s two ways of being able to photograph the best proposals, incognito- this is best if I’ve not met either of you before, and that the person being proposed to doesn’t know me. I will act like a tourist, snapping away before you get there so I just seem like a person with a camera going about my day whilst watching out for you and taking photos as you propose to your partner. This is what Evie did for Harri and it worked really well, although both know me through social media I stayed hidden enough that they didn’t spot me before hand and then whilst Evie was proposing they were so in the moment.

The other way to do a proposal for photos is to set up a photoshoot, this way we’re obviously taking photos together and no one needs to hide or pretend. However I will then set up a shot that works well for the person proposing to make it work, get down on one knee if they’d like to, and surprise the person being proposed to.

I love being able to photograph LGBTQ+ Weddings and engagements in Brighton and so capturing this gorgeous proposal on Brighton bandstand was so lovely and the perfect location away from the bust Brighton beach or lanes.

After Evie proposed at the Bandstand in Brighton, I made myself known and we then had a walk along the beach and the seafront to take some photos of them together. It was so gorgeous to get to know them both better and hear all about their story.

I tend to spend 60-90 minutes with my lovers and couples for proposal shoots, this covers the proposal itself as well as a small shoot after to get some gorgeous engagement photos for you. As always I love my photoshoots to be as casual and laid back as possible, being able to photograph you in the most authentic way.

I’m so excited to follow along with their wedding planning journey, especially after hearing Harri proposed back the next day!
